Makoto Mizuhara's the kind of guy everyone likes—which drives the arrogant class president Jinnai crazy. Everything changes when Makoto stumbles into a weird woman lurking in the school's basement and gets transported to El-Hazard, a bizarre alternate world. Jinnai, his sister Nanami, and their teacher Masamichi Fujisawa all get dragged along with him. The group quickly splits up strategically. Makoto and the others build alliances with Roshtaria's royal family and the Muldoon Priestesses, while Jinnai plays it differently—he teams up with Deva, the seductive ruler of the Bugrom Empire, a hive-like civilization. Stuck in this new world, the humans start changing. They develop strange supernatural powers they never had back on Earth. Now the real conflict kicks in. Three factions are locked in a power struggle over El-Hazard's fate, and they're all after the same thing: Ifurita, the Demon-Goddess and the most dangerous weapon the world has ever seen.
