Kaze Hikaru
It's 1863, and Kyoto is chaos. Samurai from everywhere are flooding in, hoping to join the Mibu-Roshi—a crew of warriors dead-set on protecting the Shogunate. This group would go on to become the legendary Shinsengumi, one of the most important forces in Japanese history. A young guy named Seizaburou Kamiya shows up, desperate to join their ranks. He's not much of a fighter, but he's got fire in his belly—he wants to help the Mibu-Roshi with their cause and get revenge for his murdered family. One of their best swordsmen, the talented (and pretty immature) Souji Okita, takes him under his wing. Nobody knows it though—not even Souji—but Seizaburou is actually a girl named Sei Tominaga pretending to be a guy. Bonus one-shot: Volume 45: Ooedo Shinsengumi!
