Synopsis

A year after Aika Fuwa and her parents are murdered, her brother Mahiro becomes obsessed with finding their killers. He swears vengeance, but his investigation takes a turn when his childhood friend Yoshino—who was secretly dating Aika—gets pulled in after a mysterious woman holds him at gunpoint. Things get worse when the government starts tracking Mahiro, connecting him to outbreaks of a strange "iron sickness" in places he's been. Now wanted and on the run, both of them are desperate to uncover what really happened. To get answers, Mahiro makes a deal with Hakaze Kusaribe, the world's most powerful sorceress, who's been imprisoned on a deserted island. She agrees to help with his investigation if he frees her. But Hakaze has her own agenda—she needs to stop the resurrection of the "Tree of Exodus" before it destroys the world. Her former aide, Samon Kusaribe, had her locked away specifically to prevent her from interfering with his plans. As Mahiro and Yoshino work to stop the "Trees of Exodus and Genesis" from consuming everything, they dig deeper into Aika's death. What they uncover suggests her murder was far more complicated than they realized, and the mystery only deepens as the world spirals into chaos around them.
