Slice of Life

Comedy

Saint☆Oniisan follows Jesus and Buddha as they navigate modern-day Japan, experiencing everything from Asakusa to public baths to theme parks. It's a comedic slice-of-life that uses their divine perspective to poke fun at Japanese culture, customs, and attitudes. The joke is pretty simple: these two legendary figures are essentially nobody in contemporary society. Sure, the manga occasionally reminds us of their actual cosmic importance, but in practice, they're just two guys trying to figure out how the world works now. Jesus gets mistaken for Johnny Depp, Buddha for some random dude with a weird button on his forehead. Nobody recognizes them, and that's the whole point—watching these all-powerful beings fumble through everyday Japanese life like confused tourists in their own mythology.
