In the city of Orario, adventurers flock to the underground labyrinth called Dungeon to hunt monsters and make a name for themselves. Bell Cranel has the same idea, except his real goal is to meet girls. He's got guts—or maybe just poor judgment—setting out into the Dungeon solo as a one-man guild under a goddess who's washed up at adventuring. His plan to play the hero and impress some maidens seems solid enough in theory. In practice, things go sideways pretty fast. During one of his early runs, he gets way in over his head and ends up needing rescue himself. Turns out the Dungeon has a funny way of throwing unexpected things—and unexpected people—in your path.
