Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu
The story follows an incredibly stupid guy at a school where grades literally matter—students can battle each other in virtual combat based on their test scores. The catch is brutal: if you leave an exam early for any reason, you get a zero. Mizuki Himeji is smart, cute, and was supposed to rank second in her year. But she had a high fever during the exam and had to leave. One zero later, she's dumped into Class F with the worst students in the school. The class system is wildly unfair. Class A gets treated like royalty—they have a brilliant teacher, a wall-sized plasma screen as their blackboard, personal laptops, air conditioning units, mini-fridges stocked with snacks and drinks, adjustable chairs, fancy artwork on the walls, and a glass ceiling. Meanwhile, Class F is an absolute disaster. Old wooden desks, grimy blackboards with no chalk, broken windows that teachers suggest students fix themselves with bags and "invisible glue," spider webs everywhere, and a pervasive moldy stench from ancient tatami mats. It's genuinely depressing. The protagonist hates this setup and convinces his friends that they need to fight back. Their plan? Challenge Class A to a series of summoning wars. If Class F wins, they get Class A's classroom and all their equipment.
