Synopsis

Hyakkaou Private Academy caters to the children of the wealthy and powerful, but don't expect anyone here to care much about grades. What actually matters is reading people and thinking several moves ahead—skills that come in handy during the underground gambling operations the student council runs after dark. Winners climb the social ladder. Losers? They become "house pets," basically indentured servants to everyone else. Ryouta Suzui's been stuck at the bottom of the hierarchy for a while, serving his betters without complaint. Everything shifts when Yumeko Jabami transfers in. She's got this unsettling confidence that makes her ignore Suzui's very reasonable warnings about staying away from the gambling scene. Instead, she dives right in, crushing opponents left and right. The student council takes notice—and they're not thrilled about some upstart throwing her weight around. Suzui keeps trying to rein her in, but it becomes pretty clear that Yumeko's exactly where she belongs. She's a gambling addict through and through, and Hyakkaou brings out the worst in her.
