Synopsis

While vacationing on a small island, young Shiina Tamai spots a strange starfish-like creature underwater near an old shrine. She nearly drowns, but the silent little animal saves her—and the two quickly become friends after she names it Hoshimaru. Things get weird fast when Hoshimaru shapeshifts and lets Shiina ride on its back as they take flight into the sky. What starts as a dream come true soon spirals into something darker. Shiina and Hoshimaru get caught up in a war between alien factions battling across the skies on massive creatures called Shadow Dragons. And yeah, Earth's fate ends up being the prize they're fighting over.
