Synopsis

Mikan Sakura and Hotaru Imai are best friends, though Hotaru doesn't always show it. When Hotaru suddenly leaves for Tokyo to attend Alice Academy—a school for kids with special powers called Alices—Mikan is devastated. Unable to accept being left behind, she runs away from home and follows her friend, determined to get into the academy herself. Once Mikan enrolls and reunites with Hotaru, she quickly realizes the school isn't the fun place she imagined. Alice Academy runs on a strict hierarchy based on how strong your Alice is, your grades, and your behavior. Students are sorted into different Alice categories for specialized training, and Mikan lands at the very bottom. Her classmates make it clear they think she doesn't belong, and Natsume Hyuuga—one of the school's top students—is particularly cruel to her for reasons she can't figure out. But as time goes on, Mikan and her friends start uncovering the academy's dark secrets. What begins as curiosity turns into something much bigger and more dangerous than any of them anticipated.
