Higurashi no Naku Koro ni: Yoigoshi-hen
Twenty years ago, a poisonous gas erupted from a nearby swamp and wiped out thousands of people in Hinamizawa. Since then, the village has become a ghost town—people avoid it and mostly want to forget it ever existed. But one night, five strangers end up there anyway. In Yoigoshi-hen, which takes place in an alternate version of events from an earlier arc, Mion Sonozaki returns to her hometown. She's seeking shelter from the rain at the crumbling Furude Shrine when she meets Akira Otobe, who's been searching for his missing friends. When they duck inside, they discover others already huddled there. Then someone gets murdered. Tensions spike immediately, and fingers start pointing at Mion—which is weird, because Mion supposedly died in the disaster twenty years ago.
