Magic Kaito
Kaito Kuroba is your average high school student—except his father is constantly traveling and absent. When his dad dies under suspicious circumstances, Kaito discovers the shocking truth: his father was actually a world-renowned phantom thief known only as "International Criminal 1412," and he was murdered by a shadowy organization that wanted him to help steal the "Pandora Gem." This gem is legendary. According to myth, it releases a tear whenever a particular comet passes by—the so-called Volley Comet—and drinking that tear grants immortality. The organization killed Kaito's father for refusing to help them get it, so Kaito swears to keep the gem out of their hands. To find it himself, he takes over his father's phantom thief mantle and starts tracking down the Pandora Gem using the only clues he has: it glows red under the full moon, and it's a doublet (a gem hidden inside another gem). That means he's looking for something unusually large with a bizarre backstory, hidden somewhere that never sees moonlight. So Kaito begins systematically stealing famous, historically significant gems from heavily guarded locations around the world. But here's the twist—he always returns them after the next full moon. It's all part of his search.
