Taiyou no Mokushiroku
In the early 2000s, Japan gets hit with a series of massive earthquakes and volcanic eruptions—basically the worst-case scenario. The country is literally split down the middle, tens of millions are dead, the economy's destroyed, and what's left is occupied by "aid forces" from the U.S. and China. Enter Genichiro Ryu, a resourceful kid who not only survives all this but manages to stay optimistic about it. His whole thing is that no matter how bad things get—clouds, ash, the whole apocalypse—the sun's still up there and the sky is still blue.
