Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru
Kakeru Kurahara's been shoplifting bread and running through Tokyo at night—a former track star who's lost his passion for the sport but can't seem to stop moving. He's aimless, restless, going nowhere in particular. That changes when Haiji Kiyose, a fellow student and fellow runner, literally chases him down on a bike and convinces him to move into Chikusei-so, a crumbling old dorm. The place is already packed with nine other guys: twin brothers Jota and Joji, straight-A student Shindo, the meticulous Yuki, trivia obsessive King, Tanzanian exchange student Musa, chain-smoker Nico, and manga nerd Prince. None of them have any idea they're moving into the legendary former home of Kansei University's track team. At Kakeru's welcome party, Haiji drops his real bombshell—he wants all ten of them to enter the Hakone Ekiden, one of Japan's most prestigious college relay marathons. The problem? Only Kakeru and Haiji actually run. The rest are completely out of shape and totally uninterested. But somehow Haiji's infectious determination gets through to them anyway, and they all agree to this impossible dream. What follows is ten months of a misfit team learning to run together, pushing past their own limits, and discovering that chasing this one crazy goal gives them something they never expected to find.
