It's 1938 in Mexico, and Robert E. O. Speedwagon is on an excavation hunt for the Stone Masks with his foundation crew. Things go south fast when Straits, who was supposed to be helping, suddenly betrays everyone and kills Speedwagon's men in a power grab. Speedwagon barely escapes with his life. Back in New York, Joseph Joestar and his grandmother Erina have relocated from London at Speedwagon's request. Joseph's a hothead—constantly getting into fights with locals over cultural misunderstandings and general stubbornness. But he's got an edge: the Ripple, an inherited ability from his grandfather Jonathan that lets him take down opponents without breaking a sweat. One night at an Italian restaurant, Joseph and Erina get harassed by some drunk guy at the next table. A well-dressed man from the same group apologizes for his friend and drops a bombshell: Speedwagon is dead. Joseph has no idea what's coming next, but it kicks off his weird journey.
