Yuushi lost both his parents during his first year of middle school and had to move in with relatives who, while not unkind, clearly saw him as dead weight. When graduation rolled around, he was thrilled to finally escape—he'd gotten into a high school with a dorm. Then the dorm burned down before he could move in. Stuck between not wanting to impose on his relatives again and having basically no money, Yuushi desperately hunts for a place to live. He finally stumbles onto a suspiciously affordable room in an old building that seems almost too perfect. Turns out it actually is—because it's a Monster House. Humans and supernatural creatures like ghosts and mononoke share the space. The other resident is a girl his age named Akine who doesn't bat an eye at any of it. She can even exorcise spirits. So yeah, Yuushi's high school experience is going to be a lot weirder than he expected.
