Twenty-two years ago, a mysterious earthquake lifted the entire Yokohama district miles into the sky, completely cutting it off from the rest of Japan. Since then, some of the children born in this isolated new world developed supernatural abilities tied to their individual personalities—people who became known as Alters. They've basically turned the place into a chaotic mess. Now Yokohama's trying to rebuild, and the Alters have split into two groups: those who joined HOLY, an organization bent on imposing order and morality, and those who just want to dominate the weaker humans. The only thing standing between them is Kazuma, a powerful Alter who mostly cares about himself and an orphan girl named Kanami. He doesn't trust either side, and he has no idea that he might actually be the key to making peace between them.
