Your role, which is decided by God, determines what you're actually capable of doing. There are eight roles total: Warrior, Fighter, Cleric, Magician, Rogue, Merchant, Hunter, and Sorcerer. Then there are the truly exceptional people, split into three categories—Royalty, Heroes, and Sages. Most of the population though? They have no special powers at all. They farm or run shops to get by. The weakest role, Villagers, are the ones who actually develop towns from the ground up. For villagers, hunting monsters is basically suicide. They just aren't built for it. Then one day, a two-year-old kid gets assigned the Villager role. And this child figures something out: defeating monsters makes you rich.
