The northern kingdom of Zarmine has a new ruler, and he's hungry for more than what he already has. Conquest consumes him. His Dark Army sweeps across the continent, dragging nation after nation into conflict. One of those nations is Sunkwoll, a small country in the southwest that's about to learn what that hunger means. Sunkwoll is massively outmatched—its military is less than a tenth the size of Zarmine's. The soldiers are losing faith. Meanwhile, their own king is too busy lavishing wealth on the nobility to care about his people's survival. Destruction seems inevitable.
