Synopsis

Kou Yamori looks like your average middle schooler. He's decent at his classes and gets along fine with everyone—but that's all an act. One day he decides to drop the pretense and quit school entirely, which tanks his sleep. He starts taking solo walks at night just to burn off energy, though he knows his insomnia is probably a real problem he should worry about. During one of these nighttime walks, he runs into Nazuna Nanakuse, an odd girl who figures out what's actually wrong with him. Sure, he made a big life change, but he's still holding himself back from real freedom. She tells him he'll never sleep until he's actually satisfied with how he's spending his time awake. Somehow this conversation makes him feel better, so when Nazuna invites him back to her place to share her futon, he agrees. He's lying there pretending to be asleep when she leans over him and bites his neck.
