Kaka is an unusually strong girl with a natural talent for fighting. She feels it's her duty to protect Genjou, a kind but sickly priest who once saved her life by taking down a tiger, nearly dying in the process. When poisoned water threatens their village, Genjou heads to the capital to find help. While he's gone, demons attack—they burn the village to the ground and turn the villagers under Kaka's watch into monkeys. Desperate to find Genjou, Kaka tracks him down only to discover he's been possessed by a powerful spirit with its own agenda. The spirit explains that the human Emperor has secretly been replaced by the Demon King, and it's returned to fix things.
