Ichirou Inuyashiki is a broken old man—friendless, unloved by his own family, and dying of cancer. In a last-ditch attempt to find meaning, he adopts a dog. But one night while walking it, everything catches up with him and he collapses in tears in a park, convinced his life is already over. Then an alien object crashes nearby and transforms his body into something mechanical and healthy. The problem? He can't cry anymore, and he starts to think he's stopped being human. That changes when he saves a homeless man from certain death. Seeing the guy's genuine gratitude and happiness actually moves him to tears—proof that there's still something human left inside him. So Inuyashiki decides to use his new powers to help people in need. But his newfound purpose doesn't last long. He discovers someone else got the same transformation, and this person is using their powers in the worst ways imaginable. What started as Inuyashiki playing neighborhood hero suddenly becomes a fight against a real monster.
