Ao no Kanata no Four Rhythm
The story takes place on a remote archipelago far south of Japan—basically its own world. When anti-gravitons were discovered, someone had the brilliant idea to turn them into special shoes called "grash" that let people fly. No wings, no engines, just your own body doing the work. This discovery sparked a whole new sport called Flying Circus, basically dogfight racing in the sky. Our main character used to dream of competing in Flying Circus, but a crushing loss knocked him out of the game. He quit and stayed away for a while. Then he meets Haruka Kurashina, a transfer student, and starts teaching her how to fly. Getting back into it reignites something in him, and before long he's competing in Flying Circus again.
