Iryuu: Team Medical Dragon
Dr. Akira Katou wants to become a professor at Meishin University Medical Center so she can reform Japan's corrupt medical system. To make that happen, she decides her breakthrough research needs to focus on something incredibly ambitious: performing a Batista procedure—one of the world's most difficult surgeries—for the first time in Japan. The Batista is a reduction left ventriculoplasty that only the most skilled surgeons can even attempt. Pull it off, and Katou's shot at professorship is basically locked in. The catch? She needs an exceptional team. Her first recruit is Dr. Ryutaro Asada, a surgical genius she once saw operate and was completely impressed by. But Asada turns out to be a problem. He's brilliant, sure, but he constantly butts heads with the hospital's establishment and refuses to play by its rules. With her career hanging in the balance, Katou finds herself stuck between trying to rein him in and staying true to her own goal of tearing down that same system. If keeping Asada in line means she has to become part of the corrupt machine she's trying to destroy, is it even worth it?
