A collection of short stories tied to karuta cards, all set in Yoshiwara, Edo's red-light district. Kimori Okuma is a sweet girl with a big heart, but her weight keeps potential husbands away. When a samurai steps in to defend her from public ridicule, she starts to wonder if this could be her shot at happiness. Kanrobai After her father's suicide, Asagi's world falls apart. She's desperate to climb back to her old life, but all she's got is mistreatment and an odd man stuck under a barrel. Maigoishi Tama is a lost child taken in by a family with a son named Shirou. She dreams of reuniting with her father, but finding where she truly belongs turns out to be more complicated than she expected. Akaishinyo Seiichi is the last protector of his princess, Miya. He's determined to do what's best for her, even if his own feelings get in the way. The problem is figuring out what that actually means.
