Synopsis

Prince Chagum is accused of being possessed by a water demon—the same creature the emperor killed a hundred years ago. If true, it spells disaster not just for the royal family, but for the whole world. The court's solution is brutal: the emperor must execute his own son. Chagum's only hope is Balsa, a legendary spear-wielding mercenary from the mountain kingdom of Kanbal. She's reluctant to get involved, but she's bound by a mysterious oath to save eight souls before her death. Taking on the prince means standing against an entire empire—but he could be her eighth and final soul.
