Synopsis

Yamagami is a tiny village tucked away in the mountains of Kyushu, southern Japan. It's basically a place frozen in time—only elderly residents still live there, maintaining old traditions and their connection to nature. Then one of the village's sons shows up, running from yakuza who are hot on his heels. These gangsters have their eyes on the village itself, planning to take it over and destroy it. The question becomes whether Yamagami can stay isolated from the modern world, or if the violence following this guy will finally shatter that peace.
