Kuro Daijuuji is a struggling detective in Arkham City who gets hired by Ruri Hado from the Hado Financial Group to find a magic book. He's not thrilled about it at first, but the paycheck's too good to pass up. During his search, he meets Al—a girl who's actually a sentient grimoire. They make a contract that gives Kuro access to powerful magic. Things escalate when Al summons Demonbane, a massive mecha controlled by the Hado Financial Group, to deal with a threat from the Black Lodge. What starts as a simple job for money turns into an all-out war between the two organizations.
