Yuta's been traveling across Japan for centuries hunting mermaids, but not for the usual reasons. Five hundred years ago, he ate one and became immortal. Now he's desperately looking for a way to undo it, hoping mermaids might know how to break the curse. When he discovers a hidden village, he realizes he's stumbled onto something far worse than he expected. It's home to an entire society of mermaids living underground, and they've built their civilization on hunting young women. They kill and consume them to stay young and immortal themselves. A girl named Mana is their latest target. She's forced to eat mermaid flesh as part of the process to make her a perfect meal. Yuta helps her escape, and the two set off together, just trying to live normal lives.
