Yuuta Togashi is a high school freshman who transferred to get away from his embarrassing middle school reputation. Back then, he was deep in chuunibyou—that phase where kids convince themselves they're special or supernatural—and went by the edgy alias "Dark Flame Master." He's hoping high school at a new school means a fresh start. For a while, things actually work out. Yuuta's finally living a normal high school life. Then he meets Rikka Takanashi, a girl who's still actively stuck in her own chuunibyou delusions despite being in high school. That basically torpedoes any chance of Yuuta flying under the radar. Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! follows Yuuta and Rikka as they navigate their weird high school experience together, with Yuuta constantly dragged back into the chuunibyou nonsense he was trying to escape.
