Shiratori Ryushi moves into Narutaki-So, a run-down old Japanese house that looks completely out of place in modern Tokyo, so he can attend art school and pursue his dream of becoming a picture book writer. The apartment is run by Aoba Kozue, his second cousin and the building's manager—they met as kids, though he barely remembers her. She's currently a high school student.
