When mysterious creatures called Archons suddenly invaded the world, humanity was staring down extinction. It turned out that only the Chalice—basically the source of all human power—could actually take these things down. So people started recruiting the strongest fighters they could find, specifically ones capable of wielding the Chalice in combat.
