Synopsis

Mami Tomoe is a ninth-grader at Mitakihara Middle School with a secret: she's a magical girl. She made a wish to gain magical powers and now hunts down witches—otherworldly creatures that prey on humans. Unlike most magical girls, who fight purely for themselves, Mami's motivated by a genuine desire to protect people and destroy evil wherever she finds it. This selflessness is admirable, but it also isolates her. Other magical girls don't quite know what to make of her, and Mami ends up pretty lonely. One day while hunting, Mami stumbles across another magical girl getting demolished by a witch. She jumps in to help, and the girl introduces herself as Kyouko Sakura from Kazamino. Kyouko's impressed—both by Mami's combat skills and her willingness to fight alongside someone else. She asks to team up and become Mami's apprentice. This story, adapted from the original anime's drama CDs, explores the relationship between these two magical girls from a different angle than you might expect.
