Crest of the Stars follows Jinto Lynn, a young nobleman whose home planet, Martine, is conquered by the Abh—an advanced spacefaring civilization. His father negotiated the takeover to secure a position in Abh society, and Jinto was sent to study their ways and culture. The story picks up when he meets Lafiel, a young Abh princess, just as they're heading to military academy together. Their journey gets cut short when war breaks out. The Abh Empire finds itself in conflict with the Four Nations Alliance, a coalition of human governments—the United Mankind, the Federation of Hania, the Republic of Greater Alcont, and the People's Sovereign Union of Planets—all united against Abh expansion. Caught in the opening stages of this conflict, Jinto, Lafiel, and the Abh warship they're traveling on are thrust straight into the action.
