It's 1863, and Japan is crumbling. The shogunate is dying, the streets are drowning in blood, and masterless ronin are clashing with government samurai in what's shaping up to be one of the most chaotic periods in the country's history. Nio is a young orphan who's seen plenty of hardship, but he refuses to give up on his dream of a better world. When he meets Toshizou Hijikata and Souji Okita—two guys who are about to co-found the Shinsengumi, a group of ronin everyone hates—something clicks. Inspired by these "Wolves of Mibu," Nio joins their ranks, hoping he can help build the future he believes in. The problem? Every day brings new betrayals and reversals. As things keep shifting beneath his feet, Nio has to figure out if he can hold onto his principles or if the chaos will swallow them whole.
