Gin Tama
Gintama
Japan's peaceful Edo period gets turned upside down when aliens called the Amanto suddenly invade. The samurai try to fight back, but it becomes clear pretty fast that they're outmatched. The Shogun throws in the towel and cuts a deal with the invaders—which means a nationwide sword ban and basically the end of samurai culture as anyone knew it. Enter Gintoki Sakata, a guy who's apparently decided the samurai spirit isn't dead as long as he's swinging a wooden sword around. With his kind no longer in demand, he's resorted to taking whatever odd jobs he can find to pay the bills. His ragtag crew includes Shinpachi Shimura, who shows up one day insisting he's Gintoki's disciple; Kagura, an alien girl who's somehow become indispensable; and Sadaharu, a massive dog that's basically part of the team now. Together they run Yorozuya, a jack-of-all-trades shop that constantly gets dragged into the most ridiculous situations imaginable.
