Parasites are tennis-ball-sized creatures that invade human bodies and take over their minds to survive. No one knows how many exist or where they came from. Shinichi Izumi, a typical 16-year-old high schooler, has his life turned upside down when a Parasite attempts to take control of him one night. The invasion goes wrong though—instead of consuming his brain, the creature only manages to infect his right arm. With both Shinichi and the Parasite, who names himself Migi, keeping their own consciousness, they're forced into an unlikely partnership. Migi suggests they work together if they want to make it, and Shinichi doesn't really have a choice but to agree. Now he has to navigate this strange relationship while staying true to his humanity and fighting off other Parasites that are far more dangerous and willing to kill.
