Ardis is a mercenary who practices Sword Magic—a completely new magical technique that lets him control blades telekinetically, sending them flying through the air to strike enemies down. He takes on all kinds of jobs for pay: monster hunts, bodyguard work, investigations, whatever pays. One day while heading back from a survey job, he runs into twin girls whose caravan was destroyed by bandits. He saves them, but there's a problem: in this world, twins are considered abominations and treated with suspicion and cruelty. Ardis isn't about to abandon them. With the twins under his protection and a girl who's become his companion, he has to keep his cool as the world treats these kids with nothing but contempt—all because of some curse from a goddess.
