Totomaru Isshiki knows he's not cut out for detective work, but he's determined to solve murders and help people anyway. When a senior suggests he reach out to Ron Kamonohashi, a former prodigy from the prestigious Detective Training Academy Blue who disappeared from the scene five years ago, Totomaru figures it's worth a shot. He shows up expecting a polished, put-together guy. Instead, he finds Ron—disheveled, eccentric, and practically feral after years alone. Ron immediately shuts him down. Then, just as fast, he does a complete 180 and throws himself into investigating a serial murder case. As it turns out, Ron didn't vanish because he wanted to. Something beyond his control forced him out, and Totomaru might be exactly what he needs to get back in the game. From that point on, the earnest rookie cop and the unhinged detective make an odd team, working through case after case.
