Synopsis

A hugely popular sword and sorcery shounen series that blends Japanese mythology with sci-fi elements. According to legend, a young hero will overthrow the evil Emperor Miroku and open a gateway between the human world and the mythical land of Agalta. When Miroku's own son is born with incredible power, the emperor has him dismembered into eight pieces and distributed to his eight generals to prevent the prophecy. The infant survives being thrown into a river, where he's rescued by a man named Tatara, who names him Madara and outfits him with artificial limbs. Growing up alongside a girl named Kirin, Madara receives the legendary sword Kusanagi on his fifteenth birthday along with a mission: retrieve his scattered body parts. As he travels, he gradually uncovers the truth about his father, his heritage, and his own abilities.
