Cid Kagenou isn't interested in being the hero or the villain—he wants to be the mastermind pulling all the strings behind the scenes. He never got the chance in his old life back in Japan, but now that he's been reborn in a magical world, he's finally going to make it happen. To stay under the radar, Cid poses as an unremarkable background character while secretly founding Shadow Garden, a fake organization meant to look like a real threat. He recruits followers and sets his sights on taking down an actual shadowy cult called Diablos that's been operating in the darkness. As he improvises his way through their battles, his phony organization ends up genuinely challenging this very real enemy.
