Fushimi Inari has a crush on her classmate Tanbabashi, but she accidentally humiliates him in front of everyone while trying to talk to him. When he won't forgive her, she finds out he's probably interested in Sumizome instead—who happens to be gorgeous. So she's already feeling pretty bad about the whole situation. Then she gets summoned by Uka-no-Mitama-no-Kami, a pale fox goddess, who's grateful that Inari rescued a little fox spirit earlier that day. The goddess offers to grant her one wish. In a moment of desperation, Inari asks to become Sumizome. Predictably, it backfires hard. Taking pity on her, the goddess breaks her own rules and gives Inari the ability to shapeshift instead, letting her change back to normal. Now Inari can transform whenever she wants, which is incredibly tempting as she schemes to win Tanbabashi over. But there's a catch—if she uses this power too openly, both she and the goddess could face serious consequences from Amaterasu.
