Makoto Itou has a crush on Kotonoha Katsura, a girl he sees on the train every day but is too nervous to actually talk to. When he hears about a school charm—supposedly if you set a photo of your crush as your phone background and keep it hidden for three weeks, your feelings will be reciprocated—he decides to give it a shot. He snaps a picture of the beautiful Kotonoha and keeps it as his wallpaper. That plan falls apart when Sekai Saionji, a classmate sitting next to him, spots the photo and figures out what's going on. She decides to play wingwoman and help Makoto actually get together with Kotonoha. It works—they start dating thanks to her meddling. Grateful, Makoto asks how he can repay her. Sekai's answer catches him completely off guard: she kisses him.
