Synopsis

Sanzou is a Buddhist monk tasked by the Emperor with finding sacred Buddhist scriptures. When an Earth Deity tells him that Buddha has sent him a disciple, Sanzou meets Son Goku—a mischievous Monkey Deity who's been locked inside a mountain for five hundred years after causing trouble in Heaven. He sets out on his journey alongside Goku, Cho Hakkai (a womanizing drunk), Sagojyou (a former heavenly general), and Ryuuba, a dragon prince who serves as their horse. What follows are countless misadventures: monster fights, unexpected competitions, and all the chaos that comes with traveling with this particular group.
