Ten thousand years ago, the Holy Knights sealed away an incredibly powerful Digimon as the "Digi Core." When a virus later ravaged the digital world, only Digimon carrying the D-Antibody survived. Just three Holy Knights remain: Omnimon X, Gallantmon X, and Magnamon X. The story kicks off when MetalPhantomon, the "God of Death," drags Hikaru and his friends Teru, Masuken, and Kiyoshi into the digital world. Hikaru gets separated and forced to fight his possessed friends alongside his partner, a Dorimon that evolves into Dorumon. MetalPhantomon then steals Dorumon's Dragon Spirit and uses it to revive the Digi Core. Learning they can get a replacement Dragon Spirit from Gallantmon X, Hikaru and the others head to his territory. There they're put through a gauntlet of trials by Gallantmon X's servant, MameTyramon, before facing off against Gallantmon X himself. After proving themselves, they secure a new Dragon Spirit for Dorumon. But their real problem just got worse—MetalPhantomon has already resurrected the Digi Core as Dexmon. The group has to take it on to rescue Kiyoshi, who's trapped inside, and finally make it home.
