Shinigami x Doctor
With living plants essentially gone from the world, any that survive become almost impossibly beautiful. The "Shinigami Flower" has this effect on people—those who've seen it become weirdly obsessed with keeping it alive, even after watching it burst violently out of someone they loved and kill them. Gokurakuen is Japan's answer to treating this parasitic, flesh-eating disease. It's a hospital that operates from a massive ship, traveling the seas and sending doctors out on house calls anywhere they're needed. The staff knowingly poison themselves with the Flower's toxin to build up antibodies—or die in the process. But Dr. Souma Ichinose takes this to another level entirely. His treatment methods look less like medicine and more like a slow suicide, and nobody really understands why he does it. Not even his assistant Hiyo Tsubakura can figure out what's actually driving him.
