It's 1885 in America. Slavery's been abolished, but that doesn't mean things are actually better for Black folks—they're marginalized, hunted by the KKK, and living in constant fear. Former heavyweight boxer Victor Freeman is trying to survive in this hostile landscape while dodging bounty hunters and law enforcement. He's wanted for murder, but there's more to the story than anyone knows. Turns out, demons are real. They're intelligent, they eat people, and they've embedded themselves throughout society's power structures—using humanity's existing racism as cover to prey on whoever they want. Victor watched his father get torn apart by one of these creatures as a kid, and he's made it his mission to wipe them all out. The problem? When you kill a demon, all that's left is a human corpse. So to the rest of the world, Victor just looks like a serial killer murdering innocent people. But he doesn't stop. Armed with an impressive arsenal and serious boxing skills, Victor keeps hunting, fully aware that every life he saves just makes him look more like a monster. The world's against him either way.
