Aiko Morimura is a short junior high student dealing with a lot of loss. Her father disappeared ten years ago on a yacht and was never found. Her mother, a hat designer, moved to Paris, leaving Aiko with her uncle, Mr. Fujinami. Things got worse when her beloved dog Papi died in a car accident. But then a new dog named Spank comes into her life, and somehow his presence is exactly what she needs. With everything that's happened to her, Spank becomes the bright spot that helps her smile again.
