Most people are born with "Irises"—special abilities that manifest as visual cues, letting them do things like detect lies or sense danger. Tooru Mizushima, a high school student, isn't one of them. As an "Iris Zero," he's constantly bullied and tries to fly under the radar as much as possible. That all changes when Koyuki Sasamori, a popular girl at school, literally crashes into his life. Her Iris lets her pinpoint the most qualified person for any given task—and she's decided Tooru is exactly who she needs to help her find the next student council president. He's not interested in getting dragged into something so public, but Koyuki won't take no for an answer. Eventually he caves to her relentless cheerfulness, and his isolated existence as an Iris Zero starts to shift. As he meets new people and puts his sharp deduction skills to work solving one mystery after another, his world gradually opens up.
