Kazuma Satou is a reserved 16-year-old kid who dies in a ridiculous accident. When he meets Aqua—a self-proclaimed water goddess—she offers him a choice: go to heaven or get reincarnated in a fantasy world. He picks the fantasy world, though mostly to spite Aqua's annoying attitude, and impulsively drags her along with him. Together in this new world, Kazuma and Aqua need to defeat the Demon King. They eventually pick up two more party members: Megumin, an archwizard obsessed with explosion magic, and Darkness, a crusader with serious masochistic tendencies. As a group, they're genuinely bizarre—each one brings something different to the table, whether that's actual power or just chaos. What sounds like an epic adventure quickly turns into a complete mess. Kazuma's new life becomes one headache after another.
