Taitou Shirei is a young fighter who's made a name for himself robbing corrupt Imperial Army soldiers and giving the goods to his struggling village. When it's time for his coming-of-age ceremony, his family brings in the monk Ryuukou Mouten to oversee it. After sparring with Ryuukou and completing the ritual, Taitou receives the Kenkaranbu—supposedly a legendary sword. That same night, a cruel sorcerer named Shimei shows up looking for a fight. He's after the sword, and he's got quite the story: Taitou is apparently Hagun, one of seven legendary warriors tied to the stars of the Big Dipper. According to Shimei, Hagun is destined to plunge the world into chaos. When Shimei threatens Taitou's sister Laila Seiren, something snaps inside him—his star power takes over and sends him into a blind rage. Laila manages to bring him back to his senses, but in the chaos, Shimei escapes with the Kenkaranbu. Now Taitou sets out with Ryuukou and Laila to track down the sword and figure out what it actually means that he's one of these legendary star warriors.
